“We can consider this as Silicone Valley of Vietnam.” – is the comment of the minister of information and communications.
Recently, a delegation from the Ministry of Information and Communications and more than 40 provinces visited Da Nang IT Park and Trung Nam EMS to learn about the high-tech development model inspired by Silicone Valley of Vietnam. During the visit, Mr. Peter Huynh, Managing Director of EMS Trung Nam introduced the company’s SMT electronics production line.
The Firsrt Impression of New IT and Science Center at Da Nang
On the afternoon of November 27, leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications and more than 40 provincial Departments of Information and Communications visited Da Nang IT Park and Trungnam EMS Joint Stock Company. The field trip aimed to learn about the development and potential of the IT industry in Da Nang.
First, Mr. Nguyen Anh Huy, General Director of Da Nang IT Park Development Joint Stock Company, shared insights about the growth rate of Da Nang’s IT industry and the development plan of the Information Technology Park Da Nang. Next, he outlined the city’s IT development goals and emphasized the role of Da Nang IT Park in this vision.
The Development of Silicone Valley of Vietnam
Da Nang IT Park has an area of 341 hectares in Hoa Lien commune, Hoa Vang district. Currently, phase 1 with an area of 131 hectares is in operation with an investment capital of 47 million USD. Later, Phase 2 will cover 210 hectares with additional investment capital of 74 million USD.
In conclusion, the investor, aims to create an IT hub in Asia, modeled after the United States’ Silicon Valley.
After the tour, the delegation gathered at the DITP building for a session on IT investment, high-tech development policies, and the necessary direction for Da Nang’s IT sector. The discussion emphasized the city’s support for high-tech growth and its role in shaping future investment opportunities.
Mr. Peter Huynh, Managing Director of Trungnam EMS Joint Stock Company, explained the company’s vision. He noted that Trungnam EMS and its parent company, Trungnam Group, aim to provide Electronic Manufacturing Services while developing local talent and promoting Vietnamese products globally.
New Future For Vietnam’s Electronics Industry
Trungnam EMS is supported by Da Nang city and has already started operations in phase 1 of Da Nang IT Park, setting a positive example for other regions. Mr. Nguyen Anh Huy highlighted that high-tech land use yields up to 30 times more efficiency than standard industrial land, underscoring the importance of tech-driven development.
Mr. Vu Trong Que, Director of Nam Dinh’s Department of Information and Communication, expressed interest in developing a Hi-Tech Park in his province, despite its focus on agriculture. He shared that the visit to Da Nang IT Park had provided valuable insights, opening opportunities for businesses like Trungnam EMS to invest to the silicone valley of Vietnam.
Trungnam EMS specializes in electronics manufacturing services such as PCBA and mechanical assembly. The company partners with both local and international suppliers to meet customer demands. As part of its expansion, Trungnam EMS is adding 16 more SMT lines in 2021 and continuing to enhance its production capabilities.
